Humility.
Such an elegant word for an uneasy task.
"Task" because sometimes it truly is a choice,
as in my story for today.
The night before,
my parents and I got in an intense,
but good, discussion...
Complete honesty,
with some tears (on my part),
and a loving conclusion.
This morning, as I reflected more,
I decided that the conversation wasn't quite over;
I needed to apologize to my dad for something he'd brought up.
Why is humility difficult?
Why the dry throat,
the quickened pulse?
He forgave me completely,
and it was all forgotten.
What freedom in forgiveness!
Lesson: gain humility
